Continuing with the tradition of donating the tournament proceeds to a local
charity or community group,
this year's proceeds are dedicated once again to the:
Salisbury Volunteer Ambulance Service (SVAS)
A group that has served our
community for over 40 years.
“When I started this tournament twenty years ago,” said tourney chairman, Fred
Stevenson,
“I thought it would be a great idea to honor Murph. The outing was a one-time proposition. Or so I thought!
Because he was
a member of the Ambulance group, I elected to donate any
proceeds to them in his honor.
“So twenty years later we return, yet again, to honor Murphy and again to
benefit SVAS. What goes around certainly comes around.
“Previous recipients of Murphy Open funds include Salisbury Winter Sports
Association (SWSA), Lakeville Hose Company,
Sharon Volunteer Ambulance Service,
Salisbury Visiting Nurses Association (SVNA), Canaan Fire Department,
Salisbury
Recreation Commission, Salisbury Family Services, and the Falls Village
Volunteer Fire Department.”
